For Asia, GISDAAD, through Prof Hillary Inyang have contributed to programs for more than 20 years, through research collaboration with Asian scholars, engagement in field expeditions on mining geological and environmental issues, hosting and supervision of researchers from Asian institutions, involvement in organization of technical forums and conferences in Asia and delivery of public lectures to educators, corporate officials and agency administrators in Asian countries.
GISDAAD, through its leadership, served as an Advisory Committee Member of the International Center for Ecological Engineering of the University of Kalyani, India (since 2003); Concurrent Professor of Nanjing University, China (since 1999); Honorary Professor of China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT), Xuzhou, China (since 2004); and host and supervisor of researchers on various aspects of regional and global sustainable development from Korea (4), China (4), and the Middle East (3). He gave keynotes and public lectures under the invitation of public agencies, institutions and professional organizations in Japan (2003, 2004), China (2003, 2004, and 2005) and Korea (2004). Other opportunities were his involvement under the auspices of the US Agency for International Development, as a lecturer on environmental impact assessment of development projects for several senior executives of agencies of Southeast Asia, Central America and Africa in June 1995; and reviewer of research proposals on development and environmental issues relevant to Asia and involving researchers in Asian institutes for the East Asia, Pacific Program of the US National Science Foundation (1994). He did the same for the India Cooperative Science Program in August, 1992. Since November 2007, he has served as the Lead Scientist of the US Collaboration Team for Project III, sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Education and State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs on mining and environmental issues. The program which is administered by CUMT, aims to reduce the environmental impacts of mining throughout China. During his tenure in various positions in academe, the private sector and a leadership position in international professional organizations, his impacts have been felt at several institutions and government agencies in Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, UAE, India, Jordan and Bulgaria.
